She’s in excruciating pain every month in her abdomen, has ‘brain fog’, very bloated, hypothyroid *symptoms*, candida yeast overgrowth — she’s miserable, the doctors have been of no help, say there’s nothing wrong with her. Thyroid levels are all over the map, from one extreme to the other.
Alkaline diet didn’t help. At all. Almost went broke with the natural remedies. I refuse to give up. What can I do?
There is obviously something wrong with her. CHANGE DOCTORS! I can’t tell you how many stupid unsympothetic doctors I have been to. One diagnosed me with herpes when all I had was a fleeting rash (completely depressed me for 3 weeks until my test results came back NEGATIVE!) and 2 others said I was just fat and overeating when I had hypothyroidism (so it was undiagnosed for 5 YEARS!). She may have some sort of thyroid disorder. Is she under a lot of stress? This is known to impact menstration symptoms as well as make people more suseptable to infections. Also thyroid levels can drastically impact depression levels, so this may be a serious concern. Sorry I couldn’t be more help, but like the other responder said, seek other medical assistance, don’t rely on one doctor’s opinion (especially a GP). if that doesn’t work, analyze her diet, some times certain food combinations (especially since she has been taking all those supplements) can cause and exaggeration of certain symptoms. She is lucky to have someone like you, good luck to both of you.
Hi all
Just wondering if anybody out there has had the same experience…
I have just started the anti-candida diet (three days ago) and havbe been taking apple cider vinegar as well, as that is supposed to be so good. I had no yeast infection before at all (was just doing the diet for health reasons) but now have the symptoms!!
Is this just my body dispelling all the yeast?! I heard somewhere that it can happen, biut just wondering if anybody has actually experienced it and how long it took for the symptoms to go away?!
As I said, I had NO yeast infection before.
Thank you!!
Yes, symptoms will flare as the Candida fungus dies off. When Candida dies off, it releases toxins into the bloodstream that will for a short time (a few days) heighten the symptoms.

Candida yeasts growth is normally limited by other bacteria occupying the same locations in the human body, and by the human immune system.

Hey, there is actually no definite test for Candida and there are a lot of symptoms associated with Candida. So what you can do is try going on an anti-Candida diet and taking anti-bacterials/fungals to see if your symptoms improve. The diet is incredibly important in getting rid of Candida and it is incredibly hard to stay on it because you need to exclude so many food groups…but it’s the only way to completely starve the Candida. You can’t eat dairy, any grain/wheat products, or any form of sugar including natural-fruits. So what your diet would basically consist of (for about 6 months to maybe even longer depending on how long you’ve had the symptoms) : Almost all vegetables (except for carrots, beets, peas, and a couple others), different meat products: chicken, beef, fish, pork, etc., and in some anti-Candida diet book it allows you to eat certain grains such as buckwheat, quinoa, amaranth….but it really is best to avoid carbohydrates(except for what you”l be getting from vegetables) for the first 6months or so. While on this diet you should also be taking specific vitamins/minerals to keep you healthy because it is such a restricting diet.
The natural anti-fungals are usually extra virgin coconut oil which should be included in your diet(but personally I cannot tolerate it,I can’t hold it down so I’m not taking it….but really you should because it is extremely helpful in getting rid of Candida…and I would be taking it it if I could), along with the coconut oil you should take an ati-bacterial of your choice( garlic-organic or tablet form, oregano oil, clove oil….whatever you prefer I personally decided on oregano oil and garlic tablets together since I don’t take coconut oil). Or there is also a formula sold in Whole Foods called "Candigone" which you can take instead (or the "Paragone" which has all the same ingredients of the Candigone and a few extra…it’s around $30 I believe…bu I haven’t yet tried this myself so I don’t know how well it works). From experience, what I know works is the diet(it is really key and you can not treat a Candida overgrowth without changing your diet and also the coconut oil in addition to the diet change~because for the short time that I managed to take it it really helped).
Here is a very helpful website to getting rid of a Candida overgrowth the natural way:
http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/candida/index.php
And here is another link- and this one is from acne website(which can also be a symptom of Candida-but is not a definitive symptom) but it doesn’t matter because the guy in this link was able to cure himself and he includes a very helpful guideline and methods(by the way he also used the first website I provided as a guide):
http://www.acne.org/messageboard/Diet-isn-t-related-acne-t222897.html
I know that a lot of doctors can be pretty skeptical when it come to Candida (I found a regular doctor who also likes using natural/holistic treatments who has been very helpful to me) so maybe you ucan find a doctor who is understanding or try a holistic doctor to help you out.
There is a spit test but that too isn’t a sure way to find out if you have it or not(what you do is first thing in the morning when you wake up(before brushing your teeth) fill a glass with some water and spit in the glass and check what you spit looks like in the water- Google this and online it will tell you how your spit will look if you have a Candida overgrowth….but once again even if your results are fine with this you can still have Candida without knowing it)
Good luck and feel free to email me from my profile if you need some more help on the topic.

I just started the Atkins diet 2-3 days ago. I was feeling fine, but I got a sore throat after jogging yesterday. Even though I completely rehydrated, the sore throat has persisted all through today, and I’m starting to feel fatigued and achy. I had yeast symptoms a couple of weeks ago, like rectal and genital itching, so I’m pretty sure this is yeast die-off. What’s a good treatment for it? Can anyone recommend any Atkins-friendly anti-fungal supplements?
It takes minimum of 3 days to convert your body to ketosis, (but only one bite to convert back to glycolysis) you will probably feel sluggish the first week but most people feel better than ever thereafter. It’s quite possible to have yeast die off symptoms with no sugar to feed them. I’d suggest you visit the forums for advice. I think they usually recommend oil of oregano, garlic oil & virgin coconut oil.
You will lose more body fat eating protein & fat (don’t eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you’ll need added potassium). Keep the calories high and the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.
The first week is just water weight but fat is lost thereafter if you keep your calories high enough. Otherwise your body will strip it’s own lean tissue for nutrition and although that may look great on a scale it will make it MUCH easier for you to accumulate fat in the future (since you don’t have all that pesky lean tissue burning up calories). Your body won’t release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow your metabolism to compensate and store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering your calories, it will continue lowering that set point, til you can survive off nothing and store fat on anything. The body will only release it’s fat stores if it knows there is plenty of food.
Eating carbs while trying to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you have to lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) and exercise heavily to deplete your glycogen stores before burning body fat.
The core of the Atkins program is converting your body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). You need to keep your fat levels at >65% of your calories, if you don’t your body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis).
Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin which can store the calories you eat into fat. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate you eat the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.
Simple carbs are addictive and can be disastrous to our health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs and eat one every time you want "something" have huge bacon, peppers, mushrooms & cheese omelets for breakfast. Pork chops for lunch. Get pork rinds and eat them with tuna salad. Steak for dinner. Make a huge sugar free cheese cake for dessert. Eat so much you won’t feel deprived of anything. By the fourth day, your addiction will be gone and you can start making healthy choices.
High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger and unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels.
Ground flax seed (2 Tbsp) 1/4 cup of water, cinnamon, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg – let sit 10 min to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle and nuke for 1.5 min. for hot cereal or 2 min. for more of a muffin type thing. Great low carb, high fiber treat. Suggested for daily fiber needs.
The first 2 weeks you can have several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce and celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers and more variety of vegetables thereafter add 5 grams per day additional (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) every week til you gain weight, then you subtract 10 carbs. That would give you your personal carb level (everyone is different and it depends on how active you are.)
Start with meat & fats & salads for a couple of weeks and then you can slowly add in more green veg, wk4 fresh cheeses, wk5 nuts & seeds, wk6 berries, wk7 legumes, wk8 other fruits, wk9 starchy veg and lastly wk10 whole grains. You will learn how your body reacts to different foods. As long as you remain <9 carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control, and shouldn’t gain weight.
Many people gain weight on high carb, then switch to low carb to lose weight & then are shocked when they return to high carb that they gain weight. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar and maintain weight or health.

For women, can this cause irregular periods?
Are they any cures or ways to subside the symptoms?
Candida is a bacteria that lives normally in our mouth, gastrointestinal tract and vagina. Frequently, due to other bad conditions ,this bacteria produces infection where it is and rarely this infection may be gravely. Usual there is a good cure for this using anti fungal medication. For the first infection you need to visit your doctor to correct diagnosis and prescription. Reoccuring infection, you can buy from pharmacy anti fungal cream, tablets or suppositories.
I don’t think that Candidas infection may be a cause for irregular periods because irregular period has hormonal causes in general and not external causes
Candida Albicans devastation ,the most frequently.has so many and weird symptoms that you even don’t think it’s possible, for example easy crying. I want here to give you only those characteristic symptoms linked to vagina. It starts with a burning sensation and a painful to insert a tampon if you need.. It continues with an intense itching sensation called pruritus vulvae and after this an inflamation of labies and skin . And finally, and very characteristic is a white discharge like { sorry } cottage cheese I saw once a woman coming to control to a doctor and she was dressed literarly with 7 petticoats traditionally for her but between her foots we saw this "cottage". We, experienced persons, have been dumbfounded.
So, what I want to tell you finally ,don’t worry ,this illness is very well treatable ,there is always a perfect cure for it.
I hope I helped you a bit
